T&B Line Enhancement Responds to Demands for Corrosion Resistance

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 29, 2016 – Thomas & Betts (T&B), a member of the ABB Group, has enhanced its line of T&B Fittings Stainless Steel Conduit and Fittings in response to demand for corrosion-resistant products, especially in the food and beverage market.

T&B added 45- and 90-degree elbows and 12-inch nipples, both in various sizes and in both Type 304 and Type 316 stainless steel. T&B also added Type 304 stainless steel couplings to its existing selection of Type 316 stainless steel couplings.

“In response to the demand for corrosion-resistant electrical components, we’re expanding our selection of stainless steel conduit and fittings,” Ralph Donati, product marketing director at T&B, said. “The addition of the elbow, nipples and couplings is the beginning of a 12- to 18-month process of expanding the line to provide a more comprehensive selection, which means more line enhancements will follow. The demand is particularly acute in the food and beverage market, but these products will benefit any customer seeking corrosion-resistant solutions for managing electrical systems.”

Stainless steel is among the most resistant to extreme corrosion, chemicals and temperatures of any material used to make electrical conduit systems. It is also strong, durable, easy to install and low maintenance. Type 304 stainless steel conduit offers five times the length of service life that standard galvanized steel conduit does in corrosive environments, while Type 316 stainless steel conduit lasts eight times as long. The surface of stainless steel has no pores or cracks to trap bacteria and other impurities, making it easy to clean, and among the most hygienic materials.

T&B Fittings Stainless Steel Conduit and Fittings are UL and cUL Listed and meet ASTM A-321 and SA-312 standards. They feature standard National Pipe Thread for easy installation.
